Health & Medicine News News Room

On a recent episode of Influencers Radio with Jack Mize, cosmetic and general dentist, Dr. Mansi Oza discussed how she is helping people who are self-conscious about their smiles.

When it comes to first impressions, a person’s smile is one of the first things people notice. It can have a significant impact on many aspects of life, both personally and professionally.  Not just the way someone looks, but the way they feel.

Many people are self-conscious about their smiles. Because of missing, worn, chipped, crooked or gapped teeth, they can feel judged by others and might not smile or laugh as much as they should. It can play a big role in self-confidence as well as physical and mental well-being.

Dr. Oza specializes in helping people who are self-conscious about their smiles and not only want to look their best but also want to live a long healthy life by understanding the importance of their oral health.

During the interview, Dr. Oza explained her philosophy of taking a holistic approach to her smile transformations, saying,  “A holistic approach would mean that I look at the patient’s general health first. To give an example of a patient who recently found me; he had a complete makeover done at another practice in a nearby city… He was frustrated because he spent thousands of dollars, and within six months, he had gotten cavities underneath those beautiful restorations. I just glanced at his teeth, I hadn’t even looked at his medical history yet, and I immediately asked him, ‘Do you have gastric reflux?’, and he said, ‘Yes, how do you know that?’  I said, ‘Just by looking at your teeth, there has to be acidic pH in your mouth and that’s what is destroying all this beautiful work.’ So that is a simple example of the holistic approach, meaning that I look at the whole person before we develop a treatment plan. For example, if someone is missing a tooth, and they want dental implants, but their vitamin D level is really low, the implant is not going to heal. So, we look at all these aspects to the person as a whole.”

By looking into the root cause of the problem and taking the time to listen to her patient’s goals, Dr. Oza creates a customized treatment plan and designs a smile that can last a lifetime.

With her passion and commitment, it’s no surprise why patients travel from other cities to Dr. Oza’s practice in Thurmont, Maryland.  She is on a mission to make a positive difference in her patients’ lives by creating smile transformations that give them the confidence to smile and laugh again with all their hearts.
