Interior Designer Ashley Schock Reveals How To Transform A Home From a Place To Live Into a Place To Love with Holistic Design

When it comes to interior design, many homeowners often focus on the material things and how their house looks to others. They don’t consider what really makes them feel connected to their home, what makes them comfortable, and what makes a house feel like a home.

On a recent episode of Influencers Radio with Jack Mize, interior designer and founder of Simply Beautiful Living Ashley Schock discussed her holistic approach to interior design.

Ashley’s philosophy is that design comes from the inside out and should bring happiness, harmony, and joy.  She believes everyone deserves a home that reflects their true essence and personality—one that evolves with a person as they move through the chapters of their life.

During the interview, Ashley explained her methodology for creating a space that connects with the people living there rather than based on trends or her own personal tastes, saying, “I walk into a home really as a clean slate with no perception of what I think they should do… But, I take a step back and I listen, and I ask them questions… waiting for kind of an emotional response, or an emotional conversation to start about what their intentions are. Why we’re here? What are we trying to achieve? And really listening, because I think the listening part helps me to understand the true essence of what my job is to do, whether it’s to help them shift into a new direction, if there’s been a loss, if there’s been a new baby, if they’re just in a different phase of life.  Usually, our emotional chapters dictate how we live and our home serves as that basic backdrop, catching everything. Before you know it, we’ve been so busy, we forget that here we are living in a house that has been capturing all these chapters, and all of a sudden, it’s too much. So it’s really taking a step back, and letting the clients steer the course. I’m there to assist and offer my perspective of helping them to take that next step into what feels good for them when I leave.”

Ashley’s company, Simply Beautiful Living, helps clients design a space that reflects their personal style and needs, effortlessly blending beauty, comfort, and practicality. Her holistic approach offers an intuitive blend of design and functionality that turns each room in a home into a nourishing sanctuary in which to live, work, connect, and recharge.

This episode is for anyone who has been feeling like their house has just become a collection of stuff rather than the place they love to call home.
