On a recent episode of Expert Profiles Atlanta with Neil Howe, David Colwell, Legacy Driver At Trip Delivers, discussed How Trip Delivers Is Set To Disrupt the Dispruptors Like Uber Eats, Door Dash and Grubhub.

According to Colwell, Restaurants can save money and drivers make more money with Trip Delivers.

Colwell, said “There are instances where the restaurants actually lose money on orders. They’re hoping that over all their orders they’ll average out to be on the plus side, but in some cases, they lose money every time they have Uber Eats or Postmates deliver their food.”

When host Neil Howe asked, “How is Trip Delivers different from Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Doordash?”, Colwell answered, “A problem has arisen for Uber and Lyft here in California. You may or may not be aware of the legislation that was put in place by the California legislature that basically characterized the Lyft and Uber drivers as employees rather than as contractors. This created a big, big problem for those companies because suddenly they’re responsible for all sorts of taxes and employer contributions that they were able to avoid when they could classify their drivers as contractors. Part of the problem is that Uber and Lyft accept the money, the money flows through them, and they in turn, pay the drivers. In the Trip Delivers model, we never touch their money. When the person who’s ordered food from a restaurant goes to pay, they are paying directly into the merchant account for that driver.”

Trip Delivers provides a software platform to the entrepreneur enabling them to actually be an independent business person and to see the exact costs associated with a delivery. The actual cost of rides and deliveries with Uber Eats, Doordash and Grubhub has been a mystery because the receipts are not transparent. They don’t show everything and the riders/consumer’s receipt is different from the driver’s receipt.

During the interview Colwell shared what the benefits are for the restaurants by using Trip Delivers Vs Uber Eats, explaining, “The average restaurant food order is about $26. The lowest fee that any of the rideshare/food delivery companies charge, and again, I stress the lowest is about 20% – to a high of 40%. So on the lower end on that $26 fee, they would be paying $5 and 20 cents to Uber, Grubhub, or Door Dash to get that delivery delivered. On the high end, they will be paying twice that which would be what $10 and 40 cents on a $26 food delivery. The Trip Delivers model is a fixed cost per delivery. The standard delivery costs per order is $3 and that can be bought down to $2 per delivery with an annual membership fee of just $99.”

The interview concluded with Colwell saying Restaurant owners and drivers are needed in the Atlanta area as well as cities nationwide to sign up and start saving money with Trip Delivers.

David Colwell is a Legacy Driver for Trip Delivers and has been with the company since its launch in 2018.
