MELBOURNE, Fla. — Christian Care Ministry/Medi-Share and its members support the growth of medical outreach through the mobile Lestonnac Eye Care Program.

Last year, Medi-Share appealed to its members nationwide to hit a goal and meet the need of expanding  the mobile clinic offerings of the Lestonnac Free Clinic; they had their “Wheels that Heal” Grand Opening in May.

Lestonnac was able to add a mobile eye clinic equipped with optical edger machines that allow on-the-spot eye exams where patients walk away with free glasses the same day.

The Lestonnac free eye clinic has provided 2,376 glasses in the first quarter of 2023; averaging 800 glasses a month.

Recently, CCM staff visited the clinic to see it in action. A mom visiting the clinic for medical care was blessed that her children were able to receive a free eye exam during her medical visit, and she and her children all received a free pair of glasses that day!

“This initiative brings Christian Care Ministry’s vision to  ‘Transform society through the Biblical model of sharing’ to fruition by the important work the Lestonnac Free Clinic is doing in their community to provide free medical and vision care to the underserved. The generosity of our members is truly a blessing to this clinic, the staff, and the people they will serve,” explained Evelio Silvera, V.P. Communications and Government Affairs for Christian Care Ministry.

“We appreciate all of you and your hard work in servicing our community.” shared Carmen Hernandez,  Department of Children Services San Bernardino County, about the Lestonnac Free Clinic mobile vision services.

Medi-Share is honored to partner with the Lestonnac Free Clinic to further their mission to provide free healthcare services to low-income and uninsured residents in southern California. Through mobile expansions such as these, Lestonnac can fulfill their mission directly to those who need it most, right in their own community.
