Mt. Lebanon boys basketball took one on the chin the first time it took on Upper St. Clair this season. In the rematch, however, it was the Blue Devils that delivered the knockout blow and took control of Section 1 in the process. Nate Girod scored a game-high 23 points and Lian Sheely went for 20 as Class 6A No. 2 Mt. Lebanon (16-3, 7-1) pulled away late for a 60-43 victory Friday against No. 1 Upper St. Clair (13-5, 6-2) to move a game ahead of both the Panthers and Baldwin (15-4, 6-2) for first place in the section and, potentially, the top seed in the WPIAL playoffs.
